Equivalence partitioning

Equivalence partitioning

[SWE]
Ekvivalenspartitionering

Definition

A test design technique where you divide data into partitions where the data set in a single partition is deemed equal by the system. By dividing equal data into partitions you only need to create one test case for each partition instead of every instance of data. This is considered a very useful and effective way of creating test cases.

This technique is closely connected to boundary values since they are the values that typically separate the partitions.
